As a participant of the Being A Leader Course, you will leave the course being a leader and exercising leadership effectively as your natural self-expression in any situation and no matter what the circumstances. This means you will naturally act as a leader WITHOUT having to remember what strategies or techniques to apply. That’s what makes this course different; it all shows up on the court, in action, in real-time. It’s a whole new model of leadership.

The methods employed in this Leadership Course contrasts with the traditional methods of teaching leadership in which students are provided with the opportunity to learn the characteristics, styles, and practices of noteworthy leaders as these have been observed, described, interpreted, and explained “from the stands.” To put this more formally, the traditional method of teaching leadership deals with leader and leadership conceptually from a third-person perspective, which is an epistemological/theoretical model. In the traditional method, students were presented with knowledge about leaders and leadership and are expected to remember and figure out how to apply such knowledge in each leadership situation.

The Unique Method Employed in This Course

The method utilized in the Leadership Course provides participants with the opportunity to master: 1. Being a Leader and 2. the effective exercise of leadership, as these are actually lived and personally experienced “on the court” (in formal terms this is a first-person, real-time, ontological/phenomenological model.)

This program is the result of 30 years of work, including partnering with Harvard Business School, and the US Air Force Academy. It has been delivered at the University of Rochester, Simon School of Business, United States Air Force Academy, Texas A&M, Mays School of Business, Dartmouth College, Geisel School of Medicine, and many others.
